kaula is a tool, not a toy
Kaula and being able to tie knots are foundational skills that teach students how a waʻa is rigged, sailed, and cared for. More than lines that secure a canoe, kaula remind us that strength comes through connection—just as each lashing holds the waʻa together, every crew member plays a vital role in supporting one another and ensuring a safe and successful voyage.
