The Kūkuluokalani, or Hawaiian Star Compass, is a learning tool that helps students understand the world around them and the sky above. More than a navigation system, it is a way of understanding our relationship to the land, ocean, sky, and the natural rhythms that guide life.

This video introduces viewers to the four cardinal points of the Kūkuluokalani and how they are used for navigation.

EPISODE 2: QUADRANTS

Recommended for grades 1-6, in conjunction with Episode 1
Learn the four quadrants of the Kūkuluokalani and how they organize the Hawaiian star compass.

EPISODE 3: CREATE YOUR OWN KŪKULUOKALANI

Learn all the hale, or houses, of the Kūkuluokalani.
